Steubens Grape

The Steubens grape is a popular variety of eating grape that produces fabulous fruit that ripen in autumn. It features clusters of medium sized, red-black berries that are sweet with a spicy flavour. This deciduous vine carries large, mid-green leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. It requires a trellis or fence for support and if left untrimmed, it will grow to about 3 m tall, but it is usually contained to much smaller sizes. It grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, and it is tolerant of frost and cool climates. The Steubens grape is commonly used for fruit production, grown to attract birds, or trained on a support structure as an attractive feature.
