This evergreen shrub usually grows with multiple, upright stems, and matures to produce a broad and rounded crown. It typically grows to 2 m tall and the same wide. Pseudopanax Tuatara is commonly included in a mixed or native planting, used to contrast with other, leafier plants, planted in pool gardens, or used for its architectural properties.

Tuatara Pseudopanax

The Tuatara Pseudopanax is a variety of the commonly known Lancewood, and is grown for its interesting foliage. It produces dark green-purple leaves with a leathery texture and a slightly lobed shape. The leaves can have a reddish tinge, particularly when grown in full sun. This evergreen usually grows with multiple, upright stems, and matures to produce a broad and rounded crown. It typically grows to 2 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted on a free draining soil in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of wind, coastal environments, moderate drought, and frost once established. The Tuatara Pseudopanax is commonly included in a mixed or native planting, used to contrast with other, leafier plants, planted in pool gardens, or used for its architectural properties.
