Plum Elephant Heart produces red-purple fruit with the flesh also the same colour. The stone-free fruit are quite flavoursome. White blossoms adorn the tree in spring and give rise to the fruit in summer. Elephant Heart will benefit from having another variety (e.g., Santa Rosa or Sultan) planted nearby to produce higher yields. This deciduous tree grows with an upright habit to about 5 m tall and 3 m wide. The Elephant Heart plum is commonly planted for fruit production but also makes for a lovely specimen.
