Cherry ‘Burlat’

Cherry 'Burlatt' is an early season cherry variety that produces large, heart shaped fruit in early summer. The flesh is dark red, soft, and sweet. It requires another variety planted alongside to set fruit (“a pollinator”) such as 'Bing', 'Rainier', or 'Stella'. It grows as an upright tree to about 6 m tall and 3 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance is achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. Cherries require a cold winter to set fruit, hence they are less suited to regions where winters tend to be mild. 'Burlatt' is commonly used for fruit production and makes an attractive, deciduous tree in its own right.
