'Bonanza' Peach

How to grow 'Bonanza' Peach trees

'Bonanza' peach trees grow best in full sun with well-drained soil and good air circulation. Their compact size makes them ideal for containers or small garden spaces. Use a large pot (at least 40 L) with quality potting mix if growing in a container. Water regularly, especially during dry spells and fruit development. Apply mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune lightly in late winter to maintain shape and encourage healthy fruiting wood. Fertilise in spring for best results.

'Bonanza' Peach tree care tips

'Bonanza' peach trees require regular watering, especially in dry periods or when grown in containers. Apply a balanced fertiliser in early spring to support strong growth and fruiting. Prune in late winter to maintain the compact shape and remove any dead or crowded branches. Mulch annually to conserve moisture, keeping it clear of the trunk. Monitor for pests and treat early, and apply preventative fungicide sprays for leaf curl in autumn and early spring for healthier foliage.

'Bonanza' Peach size, spacing, and growth rate

'Bonanza' Peach typically reaches about 1.5 m tall and 75 cm wide in suitable conditions. Allow about 75 cm between centres for separate specimens, leaving room for mature foliage and good airflow. It has a moderate growth rate under suitable conditions. Use the mature spread as a guide when planting beside paths, walls, or neighbouring plants. Containers can limit overall size, so choose a pot that supports healthy root development. Check the developing plant regularly and adjust surrounding planting as needed.

Landscaping uses for 'Bonanza' Peach

Use 'Bonanza' Peach for home orchards, edible gardens, and productive feature planting. 'Bonanza' is a dwarf peach variety ideal for small gardens, patios, and containers. Position it where its natural form can be appreciated and allow sufficient space for mature growth. Combine it with plants that enjoy similar light, soil, and watering conditions for a practical and cohesive display. Repeated planting adds rhythm, while a single specimen can create a distinctive focal point. Choose a position that balances visual appeal with easy access for care.
