Apple Cox's Orange Pippin Details

The apple variety, Cox’s Orange Pippin is a very popular due to its tasty fruit in early autumn. The fruit are orange-green with a red blush and have flesh that is sweet and juicy. It is self-pollinating and so does not require another apple variety planted close by to set fruit. This deciduous tree typically grows to 4 m tall and 3.5 m wide, and can be contained with trimming. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates though a late frost in spring can reduce yields. Cox’s Orange Pippin is commonly planted for fruit production, added to a mixed planting, grown as a specimen, or maintained in a courtyard garden. NB: this variety is also known as Cox Pippin, Cox’s Orange, and the Cox Apple tree.
