Apple Ballarat Details

The Ballarat apple bears large fruit and tasty that ripen in autumn. The fruit are green with a red blush and have cream coloured flesh that is juicy and great for both cooking and eating fresh. The M9 rootstock keeps this deciduous tree to about 3 m tall and 2.5 m wide, though it can be trimmed as necessary. It is self-pollinating and so does not require another apple variety planted close by to produce fruit. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, though a late frost in spring can reduce yields. Ballarat apple trees are commonly planted for fruit production, included in a mixed planting, or grown as a specimen.
