“Heritage” is a variety of Raspberry that produces high yields of dark red fruit through late summer and early autumn. The fruit are easily picked and very flavoursome. They are borne along the long stems (“canes”) which also carry mid green foliage. It is deciduous and typically grows to 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide though is usually cut back to ground level each winter to stimulate new canes. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is grown on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates but does require good moisture during dry periods. “Heritage” is commonly planted for fruit production, added to a mixed planting, or grown as an informal hedge.
