Plum Luisa is a popular variety that produces good yields of large, yellow skinned fruit that is blushed with red. The flesh is firm, yellow, sweet, and juicy. White blossoms adorn the tree in spring and give rise to the fruit in summer. It does not need another tree planted nearby for fruit to be produced. This deciduous tree grows with an upright habit to about 5 m tall and 3 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of cool climates and frost, though a late frost can reduce yields. The Luisa plum tree is commonly planted for fruit production and makes for a lovely specimen.
