“Moro” is a thornless variety of the commonly known Blood Orange and yields extremely well in spring. The fruit have a smooth orange skin with a red blush and produce flesh that is both sweet, juicy, and dark red-black, hence the common name. The colour of the flesh tends to become more intense in warmer climates. The fruit are borne amidst the lush, dark green foliage on this rounded, evergreen shrub. It typically grows to 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, protected from heavy frost. It will generally tolerate moderate frost once established. This popular variety is commonly included in a mixed planting, grown as an informal hedge, or maintained either in a container or in a courtyard garden.
