“Meyer” is a popular variety of lemon that produces fruit all year round once established. The fruit are bright yellow, smooth skinned, relatively easy to peel, and have that strong lemon flavour. The glossy, dark green foliage provides a lovely backdrop to the small, white flowers in summer. This heavy cropping, evergreen shrub typically grows to 3 m tall and the same wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this variety is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, protected from heavy frost. It will generally tolerate moderate frost once established. This popular variety is commonly included in a mixed planting or maintained either in a container or in a courtyard garden.
