“Miyagawa” is a variety of Mandarin that produces large sized, flattened fruit that have a smooth skin. The high quality fruit peel easily, are seedless, have a slightly tangy flavour, and are very juicy. They ripen in early winter and will hold on the tree for several weeks. The lush foliage is glossy and dark green and becomes adorned with white flowers in summer. This selection is fast growing and typically reaches 2.5 m tall and 2 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this variety is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, and protected from heavy frost. Citrus will generally tolerate moderate frost once established. “Miyagawa” is commonly included in a mixed planting, maintained in a container, used in a courtyard garden, or grown as a specimen.
