Apple Liberty Details

The Liberty Apple tree bears medium sized fruit in autumn that are dark red with flesh that is crisp and firm, sweet, but also slightly tart. These are perfect for eating fresh from the tree. The M9 rootstock keeps this deciduous tree to about 3 m tall and 2.5 m wide, though it can be trimmed as necessary. It is self-pollinating and so does not require another apple variety planted close by to produce fruit. Best results with this variety are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, though a late frost in spring can reduce yields. The Liberty Apple tree is commonly planted for fruit production, included in a mixed planting, or maintained in a courtyard garden.
