Commonly known as the Mexican Key Lime, this variety of Lime is grown for its fruit that is often used in cooking. The fruit are small with a thin skin that is easy to peel, and very acidic with a distinctive lime flavour. They are ripe when they start developing yellow tones. This heavy cropping, evergreen shrub typically grows to 2.5 m tall and the same wide, but can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this variety is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, protected from heavy frost, though it will generally tolerate moderate frost once established. This popular variety is commonly included in a mixed planting or maintained either in a container or in a courtyard garden.
