“Whiteheart” is a popular variety of Hazelnut due to its flavoursome nuts. It produces high yields of large sized, bronze nuts in summer. It grows as a deciduous tree to about 4 m tall and 3 m wide carrying large, mid green leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. This variety requires another variety of Hazelnut planted close by to pollinate and produce nuts. The best varieties for pollinating are “Merveille de Bollwiller” or “Alexandra”. Best performance with this variety is achieved when grown on a well-drained site in full sun. It is tolerant of cool climates and frost. This Hazelnut is commonly used for nut production, added into a mixed planting, or grown as a specimen. It is a prominent variety in the Hazelnut industry.
