Feijoa Triumph

Feijoa Triumph is a standout choice for New Zealand gardens. Feijoa Triumph produces medium to large-sized, oval fruit with a firm skin in autumn. The fruit are juicy with a sharp flavour. This evergreen shrub typically grows to 3 m tall and 2 m wide but is often trimmed to smaller sizes. Feijoa Triumph is commonly grown for fruit production, trimmed into a hedge, used for screening, or added to a mixed planting. The Plant Company recommends planting at least two varieties, particularly with this variety, to provide for a more extended fruiting period and ensure better pollination.

Growing the Triumph Feijoa in NZ

The Triumph Feijoa grows well in most New Zealand regions. It thrives in well-drained soil with good sunlight and benefits from occasional trimming. Whether grown in containers, garden beds, or as a specimen, this plant will surely deliver reliable fruit performance year after year. These characteristics make it a valuable addition to the home garden.

Feijoa Triumph Care Tips

Feijoa Triumph thrives in full sun with well-drained soil. Choose a warm, sheltered site to protect against harsh winds and heavy frost. Water regularly during dry spells, especially while young, and mulch annually to retain soil moisture and keep weeds at bay. Apply fruit tree fertiliser in spring to keep the trees growing actively. Prune after fruiting to shape the plant and allow light into the centre of the tree.

Plant Size and Spacing

Feijoa Triumph is a vigorous, upright-growing variety that typically reaches 3–4 m tall and 2–3 m wide. It forms a dense canopy, ideal for hedging or as a standalone feature tree. For hedging, space plants 1-1.5 m apart. Allow at least 3 m between trees for individual planting to ensure healthy growth and optimal fruiting.
