Feijoa Den's Choice

Feijoa Den's Choice is an early maturing variety that produces medium to large-sized fruit through autumn. The skin is smooth and light green in colour, and the flesh is of good flavour and has a good sugar-acid balance. This evergreen shrub grows to 3 m tall and 2 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Feijoa Den's Choice is commonly grown for fruit production, trimmed into a hedge, used for screening, or added to a mixed planting.

Growing Feijoa Den's Choice Successfully in NZ

Feijoa Den's Choice grows well in most New Zealand regions. It thrives in well-drained soil with good sunlight and benefits from occasional trimming. The plant company recommends protecting from heavy frosts in the first year of growing to be safe. We also recommend staking the plants for additional support. Whether grown in containers, mixed plantings, or as a hedge, this plant delivers reliable performance year after year, making it a valuable addition to the home garden.

Feijoa Den's Choice Care Tips

Feijoa Den's Choice prefers a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil. Water regularly during dry periods, mainly while the plant establishes and produces fruit. Apply mulch annually to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune lightly after fruiting to maintain shape and encourage airflow. Feeding with fruit tree fertiliser in spring will promote healthy growth and more prolific fruiting.

Plant Size and Spacing

Feijoa Den’s Choice typically reaches 2.5-3 m in height and about 2-2.5 m in width, forming a dense, bushy shrub. For optimal growth, airflow, and fruit production, space each plant 2–2.5 m apart. This setup allows easy pruning and harvesting and ensures better fruit development. For hedging, space plants 1-1.5 m apart so they merge nicely.
