It will grow best when planted in full sun or partial shade on any soil type, except extreme dry. It is hardy to frost, coastal environments, wet and heavy soils, and cool climates. Swamp Dianella is commonly used in riparian or wetland plantings, or planted around water features such as stream and ponds.
