Golden Chance Dianella

The Golden Chance Dianella is a lovely NZ native Flax Lily and is grown for both its flowers and foliage. It produces spikes carrying delicate, white and blue flowers through spring and are followed by small, blue berries in summer. These are held neatly above the strap-like leaves which are variegated dark green and gold. It typically grows to 40 cm tall and the same wide and has storage roots that enable it to survive a wide range of environmental conditions. It will grow best, however, in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is hardy to frost, coastal environments, dry periods, and cool climates. The Golden Chance Dianella is an easy to grow plant that is commonly included in borders, mass planted either a groundcover or on a bank, used in cottage or rock gardens, or simply maintained in a container. A mass planting will generally give the most rewarding display with this plant.
