Dianella tasmanica Emerald Arch

Dianella tasmanica Emerald Arch is a variety of NZ Flax Lily that is grown for both its foliage and flowers. It features spikes carrying delicate, blue flowers in spring. These are held neatly above the dark green, strap-like leaves. The flowers are followed by small blue berries in summer. It will typically grow to 40 cm tall and 50 cm wide and has storage roots that enable it to survive a wide range of environmental conditions. It grows best, however, when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is hardy to moderate frost, coastal environments, dry periods, and cool climates. Dianella tasmanica Emerald Arch is commonly mass planted in borders or as a groundcover, included in a mixed planting, or planted around outdoor living areas. This is an easy plant to grow that is very rewarding and affords a spectacular display, particularly when it is mass planted.
