In spring it bears spikes carrying delicate, light blue flowers which are followed by small, blue berries in summer. These are held neatly above the green-blue, strap-like leaves which has the plant growing to about 40 cm tall and 30 cm wide. It grows best in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site.
