Phormium ‘Rainbow Surprise’ is a variety of Flax that produces long, sword-like leaves that are coloured apricot, pink, and bronze. This variety typically grows to 1.3 m tall and the same wide with a tidy and compact habit. It performs best and produces the most intense leaf colourings when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, coastal conditions, wind, poor soils, and cool climates. Phormium ‘Rainbow Surprise’ is a versatile plant and makes a fantastic addition to mixed plantings, borders, coastal gardens, and is commonly planted around water features as well as pool and barbecue areas.
