Phormium tenax Jack Spratt is a dwarf variety of Flax that produces sword-like leaves that are green with a brown border and black mid-rib. Through summer it produces yellow or orange flowers on tall stems that are great for attracting birds. This variety typically grows to 60 cm tall and the same wide with a tidy and compact habit. It grows best and produces the most intense leaf colourings when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, coastal conditions, wind, poor soils, and cool climates.
