Phormium ‘Golden Ray’ is a variety of Flax that produces long and broad, sword like leaves that have a broad mid green central band surrounded with cream-yellow stripes. This Flax typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide with a tidy and compact habit. It grows best and produces the most intense leaf colourings when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, coastal conditions, wind, poor soils, and cool climates. Phormium ‘Golden Ray’ is a versatile Flax that makes a fantastic addition to mixed plantings, border plantings, planting around water features, adding to coastal gardens, or planting around pool and barbecue areas.
