Phormium 'Cream Delight' Details

Phormium cookianum ‘Cream Delight’ is a variety of Flax that carries long, sword-like, variegated leaves that have a graceful arch. The leaves have a broad band of cream in the centre and a dark green and cream edge. Tall stems in summer produce orange or yellow flowers that are tinged with green and are great for attracting birds. This variety typically grows to 1.3 m tall and 1.5 m wide with a tidy and compact habit. It grows best and produces the most intense leaf colourings when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, coastal conditions, wind, poor soils, moderate shade, and cool climates. Phormium ‘Cream Delight’ is a versatile plant that makes a fantastic addition to mixed plantings and borders. It is often used in coastal gardens, planted to accentuate water features such as ponds and streams, or grown around pool and barbecue areas. It is also well suited for mass planting on a bank and in these situations provides an impressive display.
