Dianella Sea Spray Details

Dianella Sea Spray is an herbaceous perennial grown for its lush and pretty flowers. It features narrow, dark green leaves with a hint of blue which emerge from a clump and are held densely. The foliage is adorned with clusters of blue flowers through spring and summer which are held off slender stems. The flowers are followed by glossy, dark blue berries. This NZ Flax Lily typically grows to 70 cm tall and 90 cm wide and has roots that enable it to survive a wide range of environmental conditions. It grows best, however, when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is hardy to moderate frost, coastal environments, dry periods, and cool climates. Dianella Sea Spray is commonly mass planted in borders or as a groundcover, included in a mixed planting, or planted around outdoor living areas. This is an easy plant to grow that is very rewarding and affords a spectacular display, particularly when it is mass planted.
