“Silver Spear” is a distinctive plant from the Chatham Islands with its silver foliage. The leaves glow in the sun and arch downwards at the tips. It typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It will tolerate moderate frost and coastal conditions but does not like wet soils. “Silver Spear” is great for providing a striking display with its stout nature and bold colouring. It makes a great contrast with other darker coloured foliage plants and is favoured by landscape designers who often include it in a mixed planting.
