Plant Size And Growth – Grows 40cm Tall x 60cm Wide

This small fern reaches about 30–40 cm in height and slowly spreads to around 60 cm wide. It retains a compact, well-rounded form, making it excellent for underplanting in shaded areas. The dark, leathery fronds stay attractive year-round and add structure to low-lying planting layers in woodland or wetland gardens.

Where To Grow Blechnum fluviatile In NZ

Best suited to full or part shade in moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. It naturally grows in cool, damp forest floors and along streambanks throughout NZ. It performs well in consistently moist spots and benefits from mulching to help retain humidity and soil moisture through drier months.
