Juniperus communis Compressa, known as the Common Juniper, is an upright conifer that has lovely texture, colour, and form. This shrub makes an impressive specimen with its dense, fine, bright green foliage. It grows with a tight, columnar shape to about 2.5 m tall and spread 75 cm. Best performance with this conifer is achieved when grown on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of dry conditions but not of prolonged wet soils. It is also tolerant of coastal environments and cold conditions. Juniperus communis Compressa is commonly used as a sculptural specimen, added to a mixed planting, or combined with other low growing conifers.
