Juniperus chinensis Blue Alps, commonly known as the Blue Alps Juniper, is a shrub which is grown for its attractive, blue foliage. This conifer grows upright with a vase shape bearing the foliage on slightly arching branches. It typically grows to 4 m tall and 2.5 m wide, performing best when grown on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of dry conditions but not of prolonged wet soils. Juniperus chinensis Blue Alps is commonly included in mixed plantings, grown as a specimen, maintained in a container, used for bonsai, planted to provide year-round colour, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants.
