“Leightons Green” is fast growing and hardy, evergreen conifer. It features deep green foliage which is held densely as flattened sprays. It grows with a conical habit and if left untrimmed will reach 20 m tall and 10 m but it is generally trimmed to much smaller sizes. It grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site though it will grow well in almost any soil condition, barring extreme wet or dry. It tolerates coastal and exposed positions, frost, cool climates, and is drought tolerant once established. “Leightons Green” is used extensively on farms and larger properties as a windbreak, for screening, and to provide shelter for livestock. In the home garden it is often used as a tall and wide, formal hedge which will create screening and serve as an excellent backdrop for other plantings. For hedging space plants 1 m apart.
