Abies koreana Aurea, commonly known as the Golden Korean Fir, is grown for its foliage, stature, and colourful cones. This evergreen conifer produces upward branches with new growth in spring being golden yellow. The short, needle-like foliage ages to a light green which gives the tree a two-toned colouring in spring. Showy, purple cones which are held upright are produced along the branches in summer and adds additional interest to this tree. It grows with a conical habit to about 10 m tall and 4 m wide, performing best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and periods of dry. Abies koreana Aurea is commonly grown as an eye-catching specimen or included in a mixed planting in a large garden.
