Abies koreana, commonly known as the Korean Fir Tree or Korean Spruce Tree, is a spectacular conifer with showy cones. It produces dark green needle-like foliage held densely on short stems with new growth emerging a much lighter green. The notable feature on Korean Spruce Tree is the large, dark purple cones in summer which are eye catching and very aesthetic. This evergreen typically grows to 18 m tall and 8 m wide, and performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site with good summer moisture. It is tolerant of cool climates, frost, coastal environments, and periods of dry. Abies koreana is ideal for positions where a showy tree is required and is therefore well suited to parks, large gardens, and avenue planting.
