“Alba” is an outstanding variety of the commonly known, Chinese Wisteria, and is grown for its highly fragrant blooms. This variety produces highly fragrant, cascading racemes of white flowers in spring just as the new leaves appear. These result in fluffy, bean-like seedpods in summer. The foliage is lush, mid-green, and develops yellow tones in autumn before falling. This woody climber will easily reach 10 m or more but is easily contained with trimming. It performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained site, though it is tolerant of frost, cool climates, some wind, and periods of dry. “Alba” is commonly trained along a fence, trellis, or the like and should be planted so the beauty and fragrance of this plant can be enjoyed.
