Wisteria ‘Black Dragon’ grows best in full sun to achieve heavy flowering, though it will tolerate light shade. Plant into fertile free draining soil and provide a very strong support structure such as a pergola or substantial fence. It performs well across most NZ regions. Water regularly during establishment, then reduce once settled. Training young shoots early helps form a balanced framework.
