Tweedia caerulea Details

Tweedia caerulea, commonly known as the Southern Star plant or Blue Tweedia, is an evergreen climber grown for both its dainty foliage and flowers. It carries small, dark green leaves which are covered with fine felt. Clusters of star-shaped, pale blue flowers with darker centres are borne through summer and are followed by dark seed pods in autumn. It will grow upwards of 6 m if left untrimmed but can easily be contained to smaller sizes. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of dry periods and moderate frost but will benefit from being protected while it is establishing. Tweedia caerulea is commonly trained on trellises, fences, and the like, and is well suited to using in outdoor living areas.
