Passiflora tetranda is an attractive, NZ native climber with flowers similar to those of the Passionfruit. Plants are either male or female and it is the female plants that are more spectacular as the white flowers are scented and are followed by bright orange fruit that birds love. This climber carries glossy, mid-green leaves and may reach up to 10 m in length but can be contained with trimming. Best results with this plant are achieved when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, sheltered site. It will tolerate frost, cool climates, and short periods of dry. This vigorous climber is ideal where quick cover is required. It is commonly grown on fences, pergolas, or trained into an established tree.
