Parthenocissus quinquefolia Details

Parthenocissus quinquefolia, commonly known as the Virginia Creeper, is a deciduous vine grown for its attractive foliage. It has Ivy like leaves and can reach upwards of 20 to 30 m if left untrimmed. It climbs smooth surfaces using small forked tendrils tipped with small strongly adhesive pads. The foliage is mid to dark green and turns bright red in the autumn. The small, green flowers in spring result in small, purple-black berries in summer. Best results with this plant are achieved when planted on a well-drained site in full sun or partial shade. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and periods of dry. Parthenocissus quinquefolia is great for covering walls and buildings, or other support structures. It is frequently seen growing on telephone poles or in trees.
