Parsonsia capsularis Details

Parsonsia capsularis is a NZ native vine that features attractive flowers and foliage. It bears masses of small and fragrant, pink and white flowers during summer which are quite spectacular. The fleshy and glossy, dark green leaves provide a lovely backdrop to the flowers. This climber is fast growing and will reach upwards of 10 m in length but can be contained with trimming. It performs best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of light frost and periods of dry as well as semi-shade conditions. Parsonsia capsularis is commonly used as a climber on a trellis or other structure but can also be used to spill over a wall. It should be planted so the lovely fragrance can be enjoyed.
