Muehlenbeckia australis, or Large-leaved Pohuehue, is a vigorous NZ native climber ideal for banks, fences, and revegetation. It features broad, heart-shaped leaves and wiry stems that form dense coverage. Growing up to 10 m tall in ideal conditions, it’s excellent for erosion control and coastal planting. Small, scented white flowers appear in summer, followed by dark berries that attract birds. This hardy, fast-growing plant thrives in full sun to partial shade and a wide range of soils.
