Commonly known as Snake Vine, Hibbertia scandens is often grown as a groundcover or as a small climber when it has a structure to climb. It is renowned for its pretty flowers, attractive foliage, and vigorous growth. Exquisite, bright yellow flowers are borne from spring through summer and are complemented with dark green foliage. It will grow to about 1.5 m tall and the same wide when it has nothing to climb but can grow to 3 m if it has a support structure. Best performance with this plant is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of coastal environments but does require frost protection. The Snake Vine is commonly used as an attractive groundcover, particularly where a bright and cheerful plant is required. It twining growth habit means it is perfect for growing on fences and other support structures also. This is a versatile plant and one to enjoy.
