Clytostoma callistegioides, commonly known as the Violet Trumpet Vine, is an evergreen climber that produces masses of showy, pink flowers through spring and again in autumn. The plant is a sight to behold at these times as it becomes covered in flowers. The foliage is mid-dark green and provides an impressive backdrop to the flowers. This climber will easily grow to 8 m, but is usually contained with trimming. Best performance with this plant is achieved when grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of light frost once established, and can be grown in coastal environments. The Violet Trumpet Vine is often grown on fences or over arches and provides and is also great for covering a large area when used as a groundcover.
