Clematis Josephine is a variety of Clematis grown for its masses of very showy flowers. The flowers are shades of pink and white, and are produced through spring and summer. The foliage is dark green, held on twining stems, and contrasts wonderfully with the flowers. This deciduous climber will grow to 3 m but can easily be contained with trimming. Best performance with this variety is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, cool climates, and can be grown in coastal environments. Clematis Josephine is often grown on fences or over arches, included in cottage gardens, or planted around outdoor living areas. It is also great for covering a large area when used as a groundcover.
