Bougainvillea 'Red Zed'

How to grow Bougainvillea 'Red Zed' in NZ

Bougainvillea 'Red Zed' grows best in full sun and well-drained soil. Choose a warm, sheltered location such as a north-facing wall or sunny courtyard. Water regularly while establishing, then sparingly once mature, as Bougainvilleas prefer drier conditions. Lightly prune after flowering to shape and encourage fresh growth. In frost-prone areas, plant it in a large container that can be moved indoors during winter for protection.

Bougainvillea 'Red Zed' care tips

Caring for Bougainvillea 'Red Zed' is straightforward. Water sparingly once established, as too much moisture can hinder flowering. Feed with a balanced fertiliser during spring and summer to encourage lush growth and vivid colour. Prune after each flush of blooms to maintain shape and promote new flowering. Provide strong support such as a trellis or pergola. With good sunlight and minimal care, it will thrive beautifully.
