Bougainvillea 'Little Guy'

How to grow Bougainvillea 'Little Guy' in NZ

Plant Bougainvillea 'Little Guy' in a sunny, well-drained spot with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. It thrives in warm, sheltered areas protected from frost and is particularly suited to container growing, making it easy to move during winter. Once established, it is drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering during prolonged dry spells to maintain strong flowering.

Bougainvillea 'Little Guy' care tips

Fertilise with a high-potassium fertiliser during the flowering season to encourage abundant blooms. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain a neat shape and promote fresh growth. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilisers, as they can produce excess foliage at the expense of flowers.

Bougainvillea 'Little Guy' size, spacing, and growth rate

Bougainvillea 'Little Guy' generally grows 1–2 m tall and wide, making it perfect for compact spaces. When planting in the ground, space plants 1–1.5 m apart. It has a moderate growth rate and responds well to regular shaping.
