How to grow Mandarin ‘Corsica’ in NZ

Choose a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, free-draining soil enriched with organic matter. Protect young trees from frost and strong winds. Water regularly during flowering and fruiting, and apply mulch around the base to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. In colder climates, grow in a large pot and shift to a frost-free area during winter.

Mandarin ‘Corsica’ care tips

Fertilise in early spring and late summer with a citrus-specific fertiliser for strong growth and heavy crops. Lightly prune after harvest to maintain shape and encourage airflow. Keep watch for pests such as aphids, scale, and citrus leaf miner, treating promptly. Frost protection is essential for young plants in cooler regions.

Mandarin ‘Corsica’ size, spacing, and growth rate

Typically grows 2–3 m tall and wide with a moderate growth rate. Space trees 3 m apart in open ground, or grow in large containers for smaller gardens and patios.

Landscaping uses for Mandarin ‘Corsica’

Perfect for home orchards, edible gardens, and compact spaces. Its glossy foliage, scented spring flowers, and brightly coloured fruit create both beauty and productivity. Pair with early and late mandarin varieties for a continuous harvest season.
