Kumquat Calamondin Details

Calamondin is a variety of Kumquat that produces bright orange fruits in autumn. The edible fruit are acidic and have a somewhat tart taste but make a lovely marmalade. These arise from fragrant, white flowers in summer. This evergreen shrub carries glossy, green leaves and typically grows to 3 m tall and 2 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. Best performance with this variety is achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained, sheltered site, protected from heavy frost. It will tolerate moderate frost once established. Kumquat Calamondin is commonly included in a mixed planting, maintained in a container, added to a courtyard garden, or grown as a specimen.
