Commonly known as the Dancing Bones Cactus, this is a succulent grown for its amazing foliage. It produces delicate green stems that are heavily branched which results in a somewhat tangled appearance. Small, yellow flowers are often produced at the stem tips during spring. It typically grows with a ball shape to 30 cm tall and the same wide, and performs best when positioned in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. This plant will tolerate extended dry periods but does need to be protected from frost. The Dancing Bones Cactus is commonly grown indoors as a potted plant but can be planted outdoors in the right environment. In these circumstances it is often planted around outdoor living areas such as pools, or used anywhere the architectural properties this plant affords can be appreciated.
