Alcantarea brasiliana is a large and lush Bromeliad that features thick and leathery, fresh-green leaves. The leaves are borne as a crown and result in plant that typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide. It may produce a large flower spike that reach 3 m tall with mildly fragrant, cream-white flowers. Alcantarea brasiliana is commonly maintained in a container, included in a tropical garden, added to a mixed planting, planted around outdoor living areas, or used to border an entranceway.
