Punica granatum 'Wonderful'
Punica granatum 'Wonderful' is grown for its flowers and delicious fruit. Upright branches carry large and showy, orange-red blooms in summer, which result in large, red pomegranate fruit in autumn. The fruit is often used for making juice. The foliage on this deciduous shrub emerges bronze, ages to green, then develops yellow tones in autumn before falling. In warmer climates, however, it will generally remain evergreen as it grows to 2.5 m tall and the same width. Punica granatum 'Wonderful' is commonly included in mixed plantings, trimmed into a hedge, maintained in a container, or planted as a backdrop for smaller plants.
